Continuing Education
The San Jacinto College Continuing Education Division offers seminars, workshops, institutes, and conferences of various lengths throughout the year. Registrations are accepted on a continual basis. For many of these courses and activities, certificates of completion and continuing education units (CEUs) are awarded. One CEU is awarded for every ten (10) contact hours of participation. The division also offers workforce development programs (consisting of a group of related courses) for which a program certificate may be awarded.

The division offers day, evening, weekend and online courses in a wide variety of areas, including basic adult literacy, job skills training, computer technology and recreation and leisure. Each campus may also offer a summer program for pre-college-aged students called "Kids' College."

Certain courses are linked to and meet concurrently with credit classes. Continuing education students in these courses must complete the same course requirements as credit students, and may be awarded a certificate or CEUs upon successful completion of a class. These classes are listed in the current Continuing Education Class Schedule.

An installment payment plan (IPP) is available to students who register into classes that meet over a period of 60 days or more. Upon registration, students make an initial payment of one half the tuition, plus a $15 service fee. Two additional payments of 25 percent are due by the last day of the two consecutive months following the class start date. Students should contact the campus Continuing Education Office for a list of classes that qualify and should contact the campus business office for complete information on IPP requirements.

Senior citizens 65 years of age or older may take selected continuing education courses without paying tuition on a space available basis. The director of community education must approve such enrollments.

Dependent upon funding sources, grant funds for specific continuing education courses and programs may be available for students who meet requirements.

Persons enrolled in continuing education courses may use the library, with presentation of a current registration receipt and may also take advantage of many student services, including job placement and counseling.

The division also offers customized contract training to business and industry.

A separate schedule with information on all continuing education activities is available each semester. For more information, contact the Continuing Education Office.
