Telephone (Voice Response)
San Jacinto College has developed the telephone voice response system for student information access. All inquiries to the systems begin with a telephone call to 281.998.7600. The options are:
- Option 1: Registration Information
- Option 2: Billing Information
- Option 3: (not in use)
- Option 4: Grading Information
- Option 2: Billing Information
Students must enter correctly both their college-generated ID # and PIN to use any part of the system. Initially the PIN is set as a six-digit number that represents the student's month, day and last two digits of year of birth. (e.g.: 042482 = April 24, 1982). Students must use their individual PIN to access all functions in the Voice Response System. Listed below are instructions for how to use each application.
- Telephone registration allows students to register at their convenience within certain time blocks from any touch-tone telephone in the world. To register for classes, students should complete and follow the instructions on the Telephone Registration Worksheet in the San Jacinto College Schedule of Classes.
- Grade information allows students to receive grades more quickly and more conveniently than the traditional method of mailing. Approximately 48 hours after the end of a term, grades are available on the system. Furthermore, grades are available for all terms in which students were enrolled since 1980. To receive grades, a student should dial 281.998.7600 and choose option 4. To access the system, the student needs a college-generated ID# and a PIN. For a description of the PIN, see the Personal Identification Number (PIN) Change section that follows. The system will give the student's grades for any requested term(s), current academic status, and current cumulative grade point average. San Jacinto College no longer mails grades to students. However, students who need grades in a written format may request a transcript (free of charge) from the Registrar's Office; or may print an unofficial transcript from the San Jacinto College website at http://www.sos.sjcd.edu/.
Personal Identification Number (PIN) Change allows students to change their PIN and maintain security of their records. Initially the PIN is set as a six-digit number that represents the student's month, day and last two digits of year of birth. (e.g.: 042482 = April 24, 1982). Students must use their individual PIN to access all functions in the Voice Response System. Students may change their PIN by choosing any option from the Main Menu, then selecting To Change your Personal Identification Number, Press 3 from the next menu. To change their PIN, students must enter their Social Security number, current PIN, and current zip code. Students who forget their new PIN can go to the Registrar's Office and with proper identification have their number reset to their month, day and year of birth. If they wish, students can then change their PIN again by using the voice response system. - Students may use VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express to pay tuition and fees. Students who charge their tuition and fees over the phone will receive by mail their fee invoice as a receipt. The invoice also includes their Schedule of Classes. During telephone registration the payment system is simply one step in the registration process. However, after telephone registration has ended, but prior to the deadline for telephone registration payments, students who have not paid can still charge their tuition and fees by choosing option 2 after dialing into the system. Students receiving financial aid or scholarships, or whose tuition is to be paid by a third party must visit the Business Office to have that payment posted and obtain a Paid fee receipt to prevent purging of their registrations.
