Modified Early College Academy MECA

at North Campus

Modified Early College Academy (MECA) is an dual credit program housed at the North campus. It is a two year program for incoming high school juniors who take a set block of college courses (normally four) each semester, classifying as a full-time college student. By enrolling in additional summer, evening, online or mini terms, these students have the opportunity to earn associate of arts degrees at the same time they earn their high school diplomas. The classes are held at San Jacinto College North from 7 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The MECA students then return to their respective high schools for the remainder of the day.

To be eligible to apply for the MECA program, students must pass Pre AP Algebra II successfully at the end of their sophomore year. In order to register for classes, students must show that they meet the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirement.  Students may also be able to use submitting qualifying PSAT, SAT, ACT and STAAR scores.

MECA Applicants:

Apply to San Jacinto College North - Summer Term

Test in the TSIA exam

Submit proof of vaccination for Bacterial Meningitis

Submit a dual credit request form signed by student, parent, and high school administrator

You must complete the online questionnaire for the MECA program. The questionnaire is due by April 27, 2018 at 5:00pm. Once your MECA questionnaire has been received, the Dual Credit Office will review your submission and will notify you by email if you’ve met all applicant requirements to be accepted into the MECA program.
