Our flagship campus, San Jacinto Central, is in the heart of Pasadena — the second largest city in Harris County.  We’ve been serving Greater Houston since 1961, and today nearly 13,000 students attend classes at San Jac Central. To ensure student and employer success, we’ve invested millions of dollars in first-class research labs and academic facilities on our 189-acre Central Campus.

  • Provides specialized training programs to support local maritime and petrochemical industries, with state-of-the-art labs that simulate an actual plant setting.

  • Sponsors annual SkillsUSA competitions; many San Jac students often advance to the national level.

North Campus Quick Facts

  • Serves the Sheldon, Galena Park and Channelview school districts.
  • Home to San Jac’s national championship teams in debate, women’s basketball and men’s baseball (20 appearances at the JUCO World Series).
  • Provides training programs to ensure a skilled workforce in the North Channel industries — including maritime, warehouse and distribution centers, fabricating operations, healthcare, retail and service
  • Holds the prestigious Exemplary Workforce Education Program rating for three of its programs — information technology, real estate and paralegal training — from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
  • Collaborates with North Channel schools on such initiatives as the Modified Early College Academy, dual credit, Upward Bound Math and Science and TRIO (three federal programs that serve low-income students and those who will be the first in their families to attend college).

South Campus Quick Facts

  • Serves the diverse, southeast region of Harris County
  • Boasts nationally recognized academic and technical programs in partnership with neighboring hospitals, military facilities and NASA
  • Shapes future leaders with Clear Horizons Early College High School.  Founded on the South Campus in 2007, this program gives Clear Creek ISD students a chance to earn an associate degree while obtaining their high school diploma.  District-wide partnerships enable more than 700 high school students to pursue dual-credit hours at the South campus.
  • Sponsors student trips to regional and national conventions to present research — a benefit usually reserved for scholars at four-year institutions.

The San Jacinto College Maritime Program, just outside of Houston, Texas offers United States Coast Guard (USCG) (NMC)-approved and internationally-recognized Standards for Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) maritime training and deck-level coursework for all professional mariners from the entry-level deckhand on an inland towboat to Unlimited Tonnage Masters on the world’s largest ships and everything in between. Engineering courses are available from engine room fundamentals to Qualified Member of the Engineering Department (QMED), Designated Duty engineer (DDE), to Chief Engineer.

Our staff consists of USCG Approved Ship Masters, Chief Engineers, former US Navy, Merchant Marine Officers and skilled technicians with more than a century of combined experience who make the learning experience at San Jac Maritime both effective and enjoyable.  When our new, waterfront, multiple simulator Maritime Education Complex is complete, a total of over 80 USCG and STCW approved courses are planned.

Texas's first associate degree maritime transportation program

Launched in the fall semester of 2012 and at the request of local industry for a higher quality and a more well-rounded entry- level professional mariner, San Jacinto College is home to the Associate Degree in Maritime Transportation that combines USCG and STCW-approved maritime training with the college-level academics required of an associate degree.
