The San Jacinto College Testing Centers' Mission is that students will be able to complete exams that support achievement of their educational or career goals.

The purpose of the San Jacinto College Testing Centers are to support the Enrollment Services Division by accurately administering, reporting and storing confidential student assessment records and to provide a clean, fair, comfortable and safe testing environment for all San Jacinto College students taking institutional exams as well as community members taking correspondence, state and national exams; including but not limited to Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSI-A), Accuplacer ESL, High School Equivalency Exams, SAT Testing, ACT Testing, and Correspondence Testing.

There is a Testing Center located at each one of our campuses.  To better serve our students and the community, the Testing Centers have the same office hours.

You can view the various services that the Testing Centers offer by clicking on the name of the service.

Pre-Assessment Activity and Obtaining a Test Form

The primary test we use at San Jac is called the TSIA. Students need to take the pre-assessment, once complete print your certificate and take it to an Admissions Advisor or the Admissions Office to get a test referral form.  For more information about the pre-assessment click here.  If your scores show that you’re ready for college, you’re in. If not, you’ll just need to take some developmental courses, which we offer right here at San Jac.

Retesting

Students can re-test on the TSIA once per day for a $30 fee for each day.  Students may re-test once per day.  Student must see and advisor or educational planner for a Testing Request form and pay a $30 fee at the Business Office.

  • Bring Testing Request Form and receipt to the Test Center.

Developmental Courses

If your test scores require you to take developmental courses, the first step is to meet with a San Jac Admission Advisor. Your advisor will determine which courses you need to take and help you with anything you need to succeed through options such as tutoring and retesting.

Are you exempt?

TSI requirements and developmental courses do not apply to you in any of these cases:

  1. You hold an associate or higher degree.
  2. You are serving in the military or have been honorably discharged, retired, or released on or after August 1, 1990. This includes service in the Texas National Guard and reserves.
  3. You declare that you’re not seeking a degree or certificate, and have earned fewer than 15 credit hours at all institutions. You still must meet the skill prerequisites for any courses you want to take, so testing may be required. Please note that this status makes you ineligible for most state and federal financial aid.http://www.sanjac.edu/apply-register/overview/testing/pre-assessment-activity
