Open auditions set for musical comedy ‘Young Frankenstein’

San Jacinto College Central’s theatre and film department will hold open public auditions for the musical comedy “Young Frankenstein.”

Thirty to 50 adult roles (ages 16 and older) will be cast in the auditions, which will be held Jan. 14 and Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. in Slocomb Auditorium, located at 8060 Spencer Hwy. in Pasadena. The auditions are open for anyone in the community and enrollment at San Jacinto College is not required. People participating in the auditions should come dressed to move, and do not need to bring any prepared material.

“Young Frankenstein” is billed as a “monster new musical comedy” from the creators of the Broadway hit “The Producers.” The show includes memorable songs, such as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend,” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz.” “The show is scientifically-proven, monstrously good entertainment, and the only place you will witness a singing and dancing laboratory experiment in the largest tuxedo ever made,” commented Dr. Jerry Ivins, Central Campus theatre and film department artistic director.

Rehearsals for the production will begin on Jan. 17, and the show will run from Feb. 19 through Feb. 23. For more information about the rehearsals or the play, please call 281-476-1828, or e-mail jerry.ivins@sjcd.edu.
