Second place finish at Region XIV tournament leads to second national tournament appearance

HOUSTON – The San Jacinto College softball team is headed back to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) softball World Series after a second place finish in the Region XIV tournament this weekend.
San Jac (39-22) went 3-2 at this weekend’s Region XIV tournament in Lufkin, finishing second, and earning a second-ever bid to the national championship tournament. San Jac defeated Paris Junior College, Northeast Texas Community College, and Trinity Valley Community College; with two losses to host Angelina College.
Seven San Jac players earned all-Region and All-Conference honors.
This is the second-ever trip to the NJCAA national tournament for the San Jacinto College softball team. In 2008, San Jac finished fourth in the nation.
