Women's basketball to show support for cancer awareness Rob Vanya, February 4, 2014 The San Jacinto College women's basketball team will show its support for breast cancer awareness and research by wearing pink during the Play4Kay home game against Bossier Parish College on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. in Nichols Gymnasium on the North Campus. Visitors to the game are encouraged to show support for the effort by also wearing pink. Prize drawing tickets will be sold at the game, with all proceeds going to support the Kay Yow cancer fund. Winners of the drawing will be announced at half time. In her 34-year tenure at North Carolina State University, the late Kay Yow became the first coach to win two Olympic gold medals. She also guided her teams to 20 NCAA tournaments, and was inducted into 11 halls of fame. Yow founded the Kay Yow cancer fund before passing away in 2009 after a 22-year battle with breast cancer.
