San Jacinto College advances to Mid-South District Championship Game

TYLER, Texas – The San Jacinto College men’s soccer team defeated Western Texas College 4-0 today in semifinal action at the Mid-South District Championship in Tyler, TX.
SJC quickly scored off a corner kick from Oscar Suvias, resulting in a header by Cyprian Hedrick. San Jac finished the first half up 3-0, with additional goals from Hosman Ramos (PK) and Josue Garcia with a beautiful assist by Jesus Santiago.
In the second half, Jose Guitierrez headed-in San Jac's final goal off an assist from Edgar Montoya to make it 4-0.
Goalkeeper Gabriel Rodriguez had yet another outstanding game in the net, blanking Western Texas College.
In other semifinal action, Northern Oklahoma defeated Hines Community College 1-0 to advance to the Mid-South District championship.
San Jac and Northern Oklahoma will face off at 12 p.m. for a repeat of last year’s championship game and for a shot at a trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national tournament in Phoenix, Arizona.
