The San Jacinto College softball team will challenge Galveston College and Lamar State this weekend at home.
HOUSTON – The San Jacinto College softball team will host Coyote Family Fun Day this Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 2 p.m., as part of its double-header against Lamar State.
San Jac will face Lamar State at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., at the South campus softball field. The team owns an overall record of 29-11 this season, 13-7 in conference play. SJC is also 12-3 at home.
San Jac is led by sophomore Janet Renden (Pasadena, Texas / Dobie High School) and freshman Cheyenne Parent (Guy, Texas / Needville High School). Renden is hitting .427 on the year and has knocked in 22 runs in 24 games played. Parent owns a .447 batting average and is eight-for-eight in stolen bases.
Family Fun Day will feature free hot dogs, chips and soda. Seating is limited so fans are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. The San Jacinto College South campus is located at 13735 Beamer Road, Houston, Texas 77089.
The San Jac softball team will play four of its final five series of the season at home, beginning with two games against eighth-ranked Galveston College this Friday, April 11 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. San Jac will close out the weekend on Sunday again facing Galveston. The team will play at Alvin on Saturday, April 19 before returning home for the final regular season game on Sunday, April 20 versus Blinn College. The Region XIV Tournament will be hosted by Blinn May 1-3, 2008, in Brenham, Texas.
