PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College sophomore Jessica Batura has verbally agreed to continue her college education and volleyball career at the University of North Texas.
Batura, a 5-11 middle blocker from Downer’s Grove, Illinois, finished her junior college career with an overall record of 59-20 which includes two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) conference and Region XIV championships. She was part of a squad that made two-straight appearances at the NJCAA national tournament. During her time at San Jacinto College, Batura was a first-team all-region honoree and helped her team finish eighth and sixth at the national tournament.
“Jessica is the perfect example of how dedication, hard work, solid values and teamwork reap great rewards for athletes,” said SJC head coach Sharon Nelson. “Jess has been a pleasure to have in our program. We are proud of her and her accomplishments here at San Jacinto College, and know that she will have no problems adding her athletic talents, positive attitude, solid values and work ethic to the University of North Texas and its volleyball program. We wish her great success!”
The UNT Mean Green volleyball team finished the 2007 season with an overall record of 12-21, 8-10 in the Sun Belt Conference.
