Help Keep the Health Industry Informed
There are few professions that require a combination of organizational, technological and people skills, and health information management is one of them. You can become one of these rarely gifted professionals at San Jacinto College. Our program trains you for a wide variety of functions, from patient interaction to handling the analysis, security, integration and management of health information.
The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Health Information Management Program of San Jacinto College is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
Be Sought After by Employers
Upon graduation; students are eligible to apply to take the national examination to become a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA.org). With that credential added to your resume, several potential employers will likely seek your skills, including hospitals, clinics, law firms, health maintenance organizations, insurance companies, nursing homes, health data organizations and health information vendors.

The purpose of the Health Information Management program is to:
- Prepare students for careers in health information management with entry-level competencies.
- Expose students to the skills and knowledge base necessary to successfully
pass the certification exam for Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
