Course Length: 40 hours
Voyage Planning & Electronic Navigation is a 5-day USCG & STCW approved course designed for qualified Third and second mates who wish to upgrade their USCG License to Chief / Master. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the theory and practice of voyage planning while maximizing their use of electronic navigational aids, including GPS, Gyrocompass and autopilots.
Any student who successfully completes the Voyage Planning & Electronic Navigation course will satisfy the Navigation at the Management Level training requirements of Section A-II/2 of the STCW Code, as amended, for certification as Master or Chief Mate on vessels of 500 or more gross tonnage (ITC). The practical assessments in this course will be accepted as the equivalent of the following NVIC 10-14 assessments from the National Assessment Guidelines for Table A-II/2 of the STCW Code, as amended: 1.1.A, 1.2.A, 1.2.B, 1.2.C, 2.1.A, 2.1.B, 2.1.C, 2.2.A, 3.1.A, 3.1.B, 3.1.C, 3.1.D, 3.2.A, 3.3.A, 7.3.A, 7.4.A, 7.4.B, and 7.4.C.
