Dance

*Each class has a minimum required enrollment. Once that minimum is reached, the class is a “MAKE.” Find a class you like, encourage a friend to join you! Sometimes two or three people can make a difference between having a “Go” and having a course cancelled. Please register at least 7 days prior to class start date.*

Social Dance Series -- Country Western and Ballroom Dancing 

Are you ready to dance? Learn a Country Western or Ballroom style dance in four lessons. Show off your skills on your summer cruise or at your next special occasion event! Taught by an accomplished dance duo.  No prior dance skills needed! Partner preferred but not required. Must wear leather shoes or shoes that will slide.  Class meets Thursday evenings in the Central Campus Student Center Ballroom. Great exercise and lots of fun!

 Country Western Social Dance Sessions:

*Ballet I

Introduction to the theory, practice, and terminology of classical ballet with emphasis on development and refinement of barre and center technique.

Prerequisites: Placement Audition

*Ballet II

Continuation and progression of DANC 1341 with emphasis on development and refinement of barre and center technique.

Prerequisites: Placement Audition

*Ballet IV

This course offers further exposure to the theory, practice, and terminology of classical ballet with the emphasis on expansion and refinement of the skills developed in Ballet III.

Prerequisites: Placement Audition

*Modern Dance I

Beginning technique in modern dance with emphasis on floor and center work, basic rhythm, and movement combinations.

Prerequisites: Placement Audition

*Modern Dance II

Continuation and progression of DANC 1345 with emphasis on floor and center work, rhythm, and movement combinations.

Prerequisites: Placement Audition

*Modern Dance IV

Course will build upon and expand the technical skills developed in earlier Modern Dance courses as well as emphasize and enhance artistic aspects of movement.
