- Internet courses
Internet course assignments are available through the College's Blackboard system. You will need to create a Blackboard account. You must use your San Jacinto College generated student I.D. Your I.D. can be found on your paid fee receipt. Internet courses are generally available to students beginning the first day of the semester. For additional questions about the start of a course or for specific questions about your course, please contact your instructor directly.Books for Internet courses can be purchased in the San Jacinto College bookstore.
Testing for each online course is determined by the instructor. Instructors will administer online tests via Blackboard or use the testing center facilities on campus.
Some Internet courses require special software to be used along with the Internet course. Be sure to contact your instructor.
- Hybrid courses
Hybrid courses are a blend of face-to-face classes with distance learning, in which some learning activities have been moved to Blackboard. Time traditionally spent in the classroom is reduced but not eliminated. The goal of Hybrid courses is to join the best practices of face-to-face teaching with features of online learning to promote active, independent learning. Your instructor will provide you with a more detailed schedule of the classroom and online times. - Videotape courses
Videotapes for your course are available for purchase in the San Jacinto College bookstore or can be viewed at each of the campus libraries. To obtain specific information for your videotape class you will need to contact your instructor. Books for videotape courses can be purchased in the San Jacinto College bookstore.Testing for videotape courses is determined by the instructor. Most will use the testing center facilities on campus.
- ITV courses
Interactive Television classes will meet as noted in the class schedule. For specific questions about these classes, class schedule or location of meetings please contact your instructor. - Process Technology course
Process Technology distance learning courses are not associated with Blackboard. When you register for one of our DL PTAC courses you should contact the instructor, preferably by e-mail and give them your e-mail address and a phone number where you can be reached. The instructor will need this to inform you of when the orientation classes will be held. Normally, orientation is held during the first week of classes, but may be held as late as the second week. For each DL class there is usually one orientation during the day and one at night.Only one DL class requires a textbook, and that is PTAC 2314 (Quality). All others have their text material online, which CAPT prevents from being downloaded to a printer.
There are no online tests. All tests are pencil and paper and taken on campus in a PTAC classroom. Usually, there are at least 4 one-hour tests per course. Those courses that have a lab associated with them will require the student to visit campus to do the labs. Instructors, during the orientation, will give students more detailed information.
