Department of Veterans Affairs announces emergency education benefits
PASADENA, Texas – In an effort to alleviate financial burdens facing many students, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced today further outreach to Veteran students eligible for a special emergency payment of their education benefits.
Beginning today, Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, Veteran students who have applied for their educational benefits, but have not yet received their GI Bill payment, will be able to apply online for on-the-spot emergency payments up to $3,000.

Low-cost pet vaccinations to be offered at San Jacinto College South on Oct. 3
HOUSTON – Pet owners may bring their dog or cat to the San Jacinto College South campus for low-cost vaccinations on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The event, in honor of World Rabies Day 2009, will be held from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. in rooms 1117 and 1114 of the campus’ administration building.

Preliminary numbers show enrollment jump at San Jacinto College
PASADENA, Texas – Preliminary enrollment numbers indicate an increase in San Jacinto College students this Fall.
An approximate 10 percent increase has been reported from across the district in student enrollment, as well as an approximate 14 percent increase in funded technical education contact hours and an 8.5 percent increase in funded academic contact hours.

SJC Students invited to audition for “Invent Yourself” ads
PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College will hold a casting call for the “Invent Yourself” online advertisements from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 28.
Auditions will be held in room 110 at the Central campus’ Interactive Learning Center. Three students will be chosen for the ads and flown to Albuquerque, NM for a one-day photo shoot, which also includes a $200 payment for photo usage.
No prior experience in acting or modeling is required.
