Newly elected board members sworn into office

PASADENA, Texas – Wayne Slovacek, Ben Meador and John Moon Jr. were sworn in as members of the San Jacinto College Board of Trustees at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Boardon Monday, June 1, 2009. Dan Mims, who was unable to attend the meeting, was administered the oath of office last week. All four were elected to positions on the Board in the May 2009 election.

Dr. Wanda Munson elected as president of American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers

PASADENA, Texas–Dr. Wanda Munson from San Jacinto College will serve as the 2009-2010 president of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the first woman from a Texas community college to be elected to this position.

Her term will occur during the association’s centennial anniversary.

High school students learn about process technology at San Jacinto College Central

High school students learn about process technology at San Jacinto College Central

PASADENA, Texas–Sam Rayburn High School students visited the process technology department at San Jacinto College Central recently for a tutorial on career opportunities within the industry.

The event, sponsored by Shell Oil, included a session on process technology, academic requirements for the field, starting salary and a tour of the College’s process laboratory, similar to the environment of localrefining and chemical plants.
