Foundation to host Monopoly night to raise funds for student scholarships
PASADENA, Texas – The San Jacinto College (SJC) Foundation will host its annual MONOPOLY®night on Saturday, April 25, 2009. The theme for this year’s event is “MONOPOLY® at the Oscars,” and proceeds from the event will benefit San Jacinto College students through scholarships.
The gala, chaired by SJC Board of Trustees Chair Marie Flickinger, and Vice Chair Dan Mims, will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the South Shore Harbour Resort & Conference Center, located at 2500 South Shore Blvd., in League City.
“This Monopoly night is special to the Foundation,”said Susan Arscott, San Jacinto College vice president for resource development. “We will be honoring Dr. Bill Lindemann, San Jacinto College Chancellor, who will be retiring at the end of the month after 12 years with the College.”
Cocktail hour begins at 7 p.m., followed by dinner. MONOPOLY® action begins at 8 p.m., and will end promptly at 9:30 p.m. The overall winner of the MONOPOLY® game will receive a two-night trip to Las Vegas.
Guests will also have an opportunity to enter the “Show Me the Money” reverse draw raffle for a chance at a $10,000 shopping spree at up to four stores of their choice (no cash option). Reverse draw raffle tickets are $100 each.
“MONOPOLY®at the Oscars” is open to the public. Tickets are $200 each, and all proceeds will benefit San Jacinto College students through scholarships. Black tie is optional for those attending the fundraiser.
Donations are still being accepted and corporate sponsorships for the event are available.
