SJC grad nominated for prestigious teaching award

Former San Jacinto College student Stephanie Weaver is one of three finalists nominated for the state's Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the highest honor in the state that a kindergarten through 12th-grade math or science teacher can receive. The award is based on a teacher’s ability to help students succeed in math and science through unique teaching methods, as well as overall personal teaching philosophy. Weaver teaches third grade math, science, and social studies at Shadycrest Elementary in Pearland.
