HOUSTON — Author, blogger, and former White House political aide, Stacy Parker Le Melle, visited the San Jacinto College (SJC) South Campus for two lecture events on April 26, sponsored by the South Campus Lyceum Committee. Le Melle spoke about her upbringing in Detroit in the 70s, job responsibilities as a White House intern and full-time college student at George Washington University, and finding the courage to follow her passion for writing. Pictured left to right: Le Melle asked for student volunteers to read excerpts from her current project, “The Katrina Experience: an Oral History Project.” Students Daisy Davila, Tony Roqevo, and Sherry Foutch each read accounts of several New Orleans residents that evacuated to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston days after Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. Photo credit: Andrea Vasquez, San Jacinto College marketing department.
