College offers music scholarships

Rob Vanya, July 17, 2012

HOUSTON – San Jacinto College offers music scholarships for students who are music majors and non-music majors wishing to perform in ensembles on an audition basis.

The Central Campus will host music scholarship auditions for the upcoming Fall semester on Saturday, July 21, and on Saturday Aug. 4. Auditions will begin at 9 a.m. on both dates. The auditions will be held at the Dr. Monte Blue Music Building, located on the Central Campus at 8060 Spencer Hwy. in Pasadena.

The auditions are open to incoming freshmen students, transfer students and for returning sophomore students. Music majors will also take music theory placement exams at the audition.

To request an audition time on one of the two dates, students may call 281-476-1832, email Geneva Fort at geneva.fort@sjcd.edu, or register in person at the front desk of the Monte Blue Music Building.

Students who are interested in applying for music scholarships at the South Campus should send an email to lynne.brandt@sjcd.edu.

Students who are interested in applying for music scholarships at the North Campus should send an email to randy.snyder@sjcd.edu.
