Region XIV South Conference All-Star team goes 1-1 on weekend

HOUSTON - Three San Jacinto College baseball players were named to the 2012 Texas - New Mexico Junior College Baseball All-Star Game. Sophomores Tyler West (OF), Braden Mattson (Catcher), and Nolan Riggs (RHP) played in the All-Star Game this past weekend at Concordia University in Austin, Texas.
West (Huffman / Huffman Hargrave HS) hit .301 in 40 games for San Jacinto College last season. Riggs (Spring / Klein Collins) pitched in 10 games with a 1.06 ERA and 15 strikes outs in 17.0 innings. Mattson (San Antonio/ Clark HS) is a transfer from TCU where he hit .200 with 63 at bats in 27 games as a freshman.
This past weekend, the Region XIV South Conference All-Star team went 1-1. Riggs pitched a flawless 7th inning striking out two in the win and Mattson stole third base after getting on with a fielder's choice. West had a walk, a stolen base, and scored a run Friday night.
