Jeannie Peng-Armao -- October 8, 2012
PASADENA, Texas – The San Jacinto College volleyball team, ranked first in the nation, will host its annual Dig Pink match on Friday, Oct. 12, against Lee College at the Central Campus Anders Gymnasium.
The match begins at 6 p.m. This is San Jacinto College's fifth year to participate in the Dig Pink initiative. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in which Dig Pink is held each year by middle school, high school, and collegiate teams across the nation to increase awareness and raise donations to support research to find a cure.
A moment of silence will be held prior to the start in honor of survivors and those who are battling the disease, as well as those who have lost their fight with breast cancer.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. Donations can be made during the game to benefit the Side-Out Foundation, which contributes the funds to organizations that serve breast cancer patients, whether it is in the form of research, medical services or compassionate support.
