San Jacinto College Board of Trustees calls for May election

PASADENA, Texas — The San Jacinto Community College District will hold an election for two positions on the Board of Trustees. The election will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013.
The first day to file an application for a place on the ballot is Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, and the last day is Friday, March 1, 2013 at 5 p.m. The location for filing for the election is the San Jacinto Community College District Sewell Administration Building located at 4624 Fairmont Parkway in Pasadena. The hours for filing are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Board of Trustees Positions 3 and 4 will be filled in the May election. Both positions are six-year terms. Position 3 is currently held by Marie Flickinger, and Position 4 is currently held by Larry Wilson.
Those who wish to run for election to the San Jacinto Community College District Board of Trustees must meet the following requirements:
- Must have lived continuously in one of the independent school districts comprising the San Jacinto Community College District six months prior to the last date on which the candidate could file to be listed on the ballot;
- Must have lived continuously in Texas for 12 months preceding the filing deadline;
- Must be a qualified voter;
- Must be 18 years of age or older;
- Must be a U.S. citizen;
- Must not be a convicted felon;
- Must be aware of the nepotism law;
- Must serve without compensation;
- Must not have been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court.
Voters in the following school districts elect San Jacinto Community College District Trustees: La Porte, Deer Park, Pasadena, Galena Park, Channelview, Sheldon, and portions of Clear Creek, Pearland, and Humble. Elections for the San Jacinto College Board of Trustees occur every two years, in odd numbered years. The Board is elected in numbered at-large positions, 1 through 7.

La junta directiva “Board of Trustees” de San Jacinto College tendrá elecciones en mayo
PASADENA, Texas — El distrito de educación superior “San Jacinto Community College District” tendrá elecciones para dos cargos de la junta directiva “Board of Trustees.” Las elecciones se llevarán a cabo el 11 de mayo de 2013.
El primer día para solicitar y postularse oficialmente en la votación es el miércoles 30 de enero de 2013 y el último día es el viernes primero de marzo de 2013 a las 5 p.m. El lugar para llenar y presentar la solicitud para las elecciones es en el edificio de administración “San Jacinto College District Sewell Administration Building” ubicado en el domicilio 4624 Fairmont Parkway en Pasadena. El horario para solicitar es de lunes a viernes de 8 a.m. a 12 p.m., y de 1 p.m. a 5 p.m.

- Debe de haber vivido continuamente en uno de los distritos independientes escolares que conforman el distrito de San Jacinto College seis meses antes del último día en el que el candidato puede solicitar para ser considerado en la votación;
- Debe de haber vivido continuamente en Texas por más de 12 meses antes de la fecha límite de la solicitud;
- Debe de ser un votante elegible;
- Debe de tener 18 o más años de edad;
- Debe de ser un ciudadano estadounidense;
- No debe de tener un historial criminal;
- Debe de estar consciente de la ley de nepotismo;
- Debe de prestar sus servicios sin compensación;
- No debe de haber sido declarado mentalmente incompetente por ninguna corte.
