Traditional Campus Events

Welcome Week: Held the first week of classes every fall semester, this event is designed to greet incoming freshmen and other new students to San Jacinto College Central. There will be entertainment, information, and the always-popular food and fun. Meet new people and make new friends. Don’t miss this event!

Involvement Day: An event hosted by the Office of Student Life where student organizations inform students about their group and recruit new members. This is a great way to meet new people—don’t miss it!

Coyote Day: Annual festival to break away from the winter blues held in late March. Money raised supports participating campus organizations.

Fall Fest: The family event will features a free petting zoo, music, and pumpkin painting. There is also be a costume parade for all age groups. Other favorites include a treasure hunt, moonwalks, coloring, and more. Guests can also purchase refreshments inside the student center. Fall Fest is held on the Friday before Halloween each year from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. inside and in the parking lot of the J.D. Bruce Student Center, building 11, located on the South Campus at 13735 Beamer Road in Houston.

Pep Rallies: One each semester to support the athletic teams. Current student I.D. required for free hot dog lunch.

Community Service: Campus-wide community service projects. Projects include food and clothing drives, “Stocking Stuffing”, Dress for Success, Career Gear, Toys for Tots, Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup, etc.

The Office of Student Life serves as a resource of service opportunities for the entire academic year.

Student Awards Reception: This event recognizes outstanding achievements of San Jacinto College students in academics, athletics, leadership, and student life on campus. Many special awards and scholarships are presented at this time. Attendance is by invitation only.

Student recognition is one of the many benefits that come with active student involvement. It includes scholarship opportunities, recognition and awards available to student leaders.

Leisure Activities

Intercollegiate Athletics: San Jacinto College is proud of the tradition of success that has developed around our athletic teams through the years. The South campus, known as the “Coyotes”, offers men’s soccer and women’s softball. Tickets to the sporting events are free with your student I.D., so come out and cheer for the Coyotes!
