San Jacinto College to offer certification courses in business and professions

PASADENA, Texas – The Continuing and Professional Development (CPD) division at San Jacinto College will offer courses this semester for business professionals needing certifications in such areas as performance improvement and project management. 

The Project Management Certification Program will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 19 to May 23, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the South Campus. The College has designed this program to give participants a solid foundation in the concepts, tools, and techniques of project management. It covers the full cycle of project management, including project initiation, planning, execution, control, and closing. In addition, it emphasizes the essential human aspects of leading a project team when using recognized and proven concepts and practices. Registration is $725.

The ISO 9001: 2008 Certification Program will be held each Saturday from March 23 to June 8, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Central Campus. This program delivers comprehensive insight and training for effective implementation. Participants will have all the tools, knowledge and understanding to embark on a full compliance program and learn the full range of internal auditing skills to become an advocate and leader in a company's effort. Registration is $685.

The Leadership Challenge course will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 3 and 4, at the Central Campus. This course is geared toward upper-level supervisors to plant managers and includes information on the practices used to transform values into actions, visions into realities, obstacles into innovations, separateness into solidarity, and risks into rewards. It’s about a climate in which people turn challenging opportunities into remarkable successes. Registration is $1,200.

The Manufacturing Game from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 16 and 17, at the Central Campus includes tabletop simulation that cultivates organizational characteristics such as increase reliability through defect elimination, minimize cross functional work, and increase business performance. This hands-on experience will teach participants the importance of cross-communication between departments and how to strategize and solve everyday problems that arise in today’s complex business environments. Registration is $620, and the deadline to register is April 8, 2013. 

The Lean Six Sigma: Yellow Belt course will be available online for professionals who want to learn the Lean Six Sigma skill-set to improve their processes and become a certified Yellow Belt. Certification is earned from the TQG Master Champion Network and San Jacinto College. Registration is $500.
