College hosts Fine Arts Fridays concerts and art shows
During the 2008-09 school year, the fine arts department of San Jacinto College North will present Fine Arts Fridays, free concerts and art exhibits that are open to the public.

The presentations will be held at the College’s Charles Grant Fine Arts Center. Artwork of San Jacinto College students and others will be on display in the lobby of the fine arts center, and musical performances will take place in the auditorium.
Following is a schedule of planned concerts, all of which will be performed from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.
October 17 – The Chris Cortez Quintet, featuring acclaimed New York City bassist and composer Harvie S. “Harvie is quite famous in jazz circles and is coming to Houston specifically to record for Blue Bamboo Records,” commented Carol Morgan, a music professor at the North campus. “I’m very excited that our college made it onto their tour schedule.”
November 14 – Mood Indigo, featuring popular jazz and holiday favorites.
January 30 – Marsha Frazier will present jazz piano arrangements and vocals.
March 6 – The Charlie Perez Trio, featuring San Jacinto College alumnus Charlie Perez, a rising percussionist in the Houston jazz scene.
April 17 – Café Khytaro will feature a flamenco duo.
