Introduction - Dance
The dance program at the College is dedicated to balance and enrichment in all aspects of the dancer's experience. This entails an educational commitment to providing opportunities to explore a broad-based core curriculum in conjunction with studies in dance (technique, philosophy, composition, and science). It is our intention to enable technical mastery, to support the development of a theoretical framework for thinking about and experiencing dance, and to cultivate a philosophical attitude toward teaching dance as a science and creative art. We invest in a vision of dance not only as a body of knowledge but also as a living experience that is renewed and reinvented as it is discovered.

The program prepares dancers for transfer to four-year institutions to continue their studies in dance, to earn dance certification in conjunction with teacher certification, or to move into related fields including, but not limited to, kinesiology, philosophy, anthropology, dance therapy, physical therapy, and sports medicine. We travel each year to the American College Dance Festival and participate in adjudicated competition.
