Scholarships for Spring — Computer Science/Information Systems, Engineering and Math (CSEM) and Related Technical Majors
National Science Foundation scholarships (up to $1510 per semester) and special student support services are available for Spring, 2006 and beyond for new and continuing students pursuing an associate's degree in the following majors:
- Aeronautical Tech (pilot)
- Computer Science
- Computer Information Systems
- Computer/Electronics Technology
- Engineering
- Engineering Tech (not Drafting)
- Geographic Information Systems
- Mathematics
- Non-Destructive Technology
- Process Technology
The National Science Foundation is particularly interested in recruiting historically underrepresented groups in these fields, including women, minorities and student with disabilities. Selection will be based on qualifications with an attempt to achieve equitable distribution of the scholarships by campus and major.
Students must meet the following qualifications:
- Qualify for financial aid
- Have at least a B average
- Be a U.S. citizen, resident or refugee alien
- Have completed or not be required to take developmental courses
- Enroll for at least 12 hours, at least 9 of which must apply to CSEMS associate's degree
Students need to complete and submit the following information for their application
- Submit FAFSA by October 31 if not already filed (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)
- Submit the following by November 15 to ensure consideration
- Application to attend San Jac (if not already admitted)
- Official transcripts for all high school and college course work
- One-page essay telling how the CSEMS scholarship will help meet educational and career goals
- Faculty letter of recommendation.
