Introduction - Air Conditioning
The Air Conditioning Technology program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills that are required to become a state licensed independent business owner or for employment as technicians in residential and light commercial air conditioning, refrigeration and heating .
San Jacinto College offers the Associate of Applied Science degree program in Air Conditioning Technology for students who complete the required curriculum. A Certificate of Technology and Occupational Certificate is also offered.
The Air Conditioning Technology curriculum provides the basic preparation for entry-level jobs in the fields of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating, with main emphasis on troubleshooting and service. Related topics of indoor air quality, load calculation, air conditioning code, and A/C contracting are also covered.
This Department also offers a seminar of refrigerant handling and the EPA required examination for handling refrigerants through Continuing Education. You do not have to be a student to take the examination.
