Introduction - Electrical Technology
All homewoners, at one time or another, have tackled a do-it-yourself repair project. But nothing sends homeowners thumbing through the Yellow Pages faster than an electrical problem. That fact alone says something about the job potential as an electrician.

The demand for residential and commercial electricians remains constant in this area, with marked increases during periods of heavy construction. A booming construction business is the by-product of an upswing in the economy Houston is experiencing, providing even more future openings in this field.

Our program runs the spectrum, from how to wire a simple light switch to complicated motor controls. Once the residential aspect is mastered, students focus on commercial wiring and  industrial concepts used by the petrochemical plants along the Houston Ship Channel.

Our world revolves around a constant source of electricity, and those skilled in this area provide a valuable commodity.

The Electrical Technology curriculum is organized to provide basic preparation for students to fill entry-level positions in the fields of construction, maintenance, design, marketing, residential, industrial, commercial and otehr electrical-related industries.
The program will also allow electrical workers to upgrade their skills as they gain on-the-job experience.

The Electrical Technology Occupational Certificate is designed to provide students with entry-level skills in the electrical field. Students are eligible for the occupational certificate indicated below upon completion of the designated courses with grades of at least a C in each course. At lease one-half of the credit hours must be earned at San Jacinto College.
