Introduction - Physics
Go where few ever go - into the mind of the theoretical scientist! Learn basic principles of waves, quantum mechanics, polarization, and the periodic table. Sound interesting? Then sign up for a physics class at San Jacinto College. We’ll also teach you how time, space, energy and matter interact with each other.

Annual median salary for physics teachers at the postsecondary level is $62,200 and the predicted rate of growth is 25% (through 2008)

The WOLF Project, a student/faculty partnership with NASA’s KC-135 program, is administered through physics
Two levels of Physics are taught at San Jac. One is a Trigonometry based course and the other is a Calculus based course. The Phys 1401 and 1402 are intended for Life Science majors: Pharmacy, Optometry, Dental, etc. The Phys 245 and 2426 are intended for Engineering majors, physics, mathematics, computer science and geology majors.
1401 should precede 1401 and 2425 should precede 2426. A student can take Phys 1401 without having had Trig if the department approves it.
Both levels of physics cover essentially the same topics, do essentially the same labs; the calculus based course goes further into the theory using calculus as a mathematical tool. The lower level Phys 1401 and 1402 should not be taken to “warm up” to the Phys 2425 and 2426 level.
