Introduction - Psychology
Psychology - The study of Behavior and Mental Processes.

Psychology can sometimes "give us a totally different idea of things we know the best," - Paul Valery.

To study psychology is to see how psychological findings can make a difference in your own life. Everyone can relate to psychology in some way and the renowned psychologist William James said, "…information that is personally meaningful is better comprehended and remembered." Psychology does not just cover psychological disorders, therapies and personality; it also looks at how the brain works, how individuals develop, sleep/dreams, human sexuality and other topics. Most students leave a psychology course with more knowledge about themselves: what motivates them, how they learn, how to critically think and a better understand of their emotions.

By studying the behavior of humans, we can come to a greater understanding as to why people react certain ways in particular situations. Through San Jacinto College's psychology classes, the answers to many of life's questions can be answered. Students can take psychology classes on an individual basis or take advantage of San Jac's Associate of Arts in psychology program if they plan to transfer to a university. The classes cover general psychology, human sexuality, child growth and development and introduction to social psychology. Distance learning is also available.
