Professor Mamie Hughes B.A. Texas Southern University Professor Mamie Hughes joined SJCC in 1973. She is a sponsor for HOPE, an organization that lends a helping hand to the Star of Hope Mission. She was the first sponsor of the African-American Student Organization at Central is currently a member of the Honors Advisory Board. She developed the curriculum and obtained approval for the first class in Multicultural Studies at SJC. |

Professor Tina Mougouris B.A. University of Houston Professor Tina Mougouris started at SJCC in 1995. She is the co-sponsor of the Psychology-Sociology Club at Central and is a member of the American Sociological Association. |

Department Chair Professor Cheryl Fasullo Dr. Fasullo earned her Ed.D. in Education from University of Houston in 1998, and M.S.W. from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1985 and an M.A.in Sociology from University of Houston in 1999. She has conducted research on nontraditional-age community college students. The focus of her research has been on the factors that contribute to the retention of nontraditional-age community college students. Dr. Fasullo serves on the University of Houston Bachelor Social Work Program Advisory Board, Louisiana State University Arts and Sciences Advisory Board and is a Theater Lab of Houston board member. Dr. Fasullo graduated from LSU in 1976. Dr. Fasullo has been teaching at San Jacinto College since 1994 and is the Department Chair of Behavioral Sciences and Education. |

Professor Gaylynn Scurry Gaylynn M. Scurry is a Professor of Sociology at San Jacinto College South Campus. She holds degrees from Lamar University (B.S.), Texas Southern University (M.Ed.), and Prairie View A & M University (M.A.). She teaches sociology courses in Introduction to Sociology, Marriage & Family, Multi-Cultural Studies, and Education. She is the recipient of the Honors Program Professor of the year 2003-2004. |
