Introduction - Surgical Technology
The Surgical Technology program is approved by the American Medical Association Council on Medical Education in collaboration with the American College of Surgeons, the American Hospital Association, and the Association of Surgical Technologists. Upon completion of the program, the student is granted a Certificate of Technology and is eligible to apply for the National Certification Examination given by the Association of Surgical Technologists.

The program curriculum is a balance of theoretical and technical courses with supervised clinical practicums at area hospitals, as well as the Texas Medical Center. The combination provides the student an opportunity for educational development and skill competency.

Applicants must meet the College’s general admission requirements. After acceptance into the program, an applicant must have a physical examination completed by a licensed physician (M.D., D.O.) and complete documentation of updated immunization, including the series of the Hepatitis B vaccine. All students must process through a criminal/drug background check.
