When you become a San Jac student, you’re entering into a great relationship built on excellence and mutual trust. We pledge to uphold your rights as a student, and we know you’ll live up to some simple standards in return. These are not all-inclusive, but they’ll give you a good idea about what we believe in, and how strongly we believe in you.
The Rights of San Jac Students
- To know the specifics of how they will be evaluated in class, and to have formal protections against improper evaluation.
- To associate freely with one another and have the liberty to organize and join organizations to further their common interests.
- To be free to examine, discuss and express opinions privately and publicly as long as they are respectful of the normal operation of the college and the rules of student conduct.
- To play a part in the college’s decision-making process through involvement in student government, campus and district committees, and other organizations.
- To have full access to everything the college offers without any type of discrimination based on race, color, creed, religion, sex, nationality, age or disability.
The Responsibilities of San Jac Students
- To respect the authority of our administration and comply with all state and college regulations regarding student conduct and academic affairs.
- To be self reliant in finding the motivation to pursue their education, and to not hinder this pursuit for other students.
- To show respect and honesty in disagreements with faculty, staff, administration and other students.
- To go through formal channels when approaching the administration about any matter.
