Summer Camps

Looking for something fun for the kiddos this summer? Look no further than in your own backyard at San Jacinto College! The College plans to host a variety of fun and enriching summer camps for kids of all ages at each of its three campuses. There is something for every interest from athletics and career exploration, to music and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), and everything in between. Camp prices vary, depending on the camp. Some scholarships are even available to those who qualify to help with camp tuition. Register today!

Professional Theatre Workshop

San Jacinto North Basketball Camp

The camp theme is FUNdamentals of Basketball and will feature the SJC women's basketball team.  Campers will have fun learning proper shooting, passing and dribbling techniques in the mornings and defensive positioning, reactions and rebounding each afternoon.  T-shirts included for each camper and daily motivational speeches.  Registration begins each morning at 7:30 am when campers are allowed to be dropped off and picked up no later than 5:30 at Nichols gym.  Come enjoy a week of fundamentals with the San Jacinto Lady Gators.

A youth program where students learn about the energy industry and the career opportunities in the field.  Activities include field trips to surrounding plants and curriculum is geared toward the oil and gas industry with emphasis on engineering, geology and process technology.

The Kids Write Olympics

A 5-day camp in which campers will participate in writing events such as Greek Mask drama and Rhymin' like Dr. Seuss.  At the final awards program, campers will get to show off their work to family and friends and will receive a printed collection of the camps' work.

KidSpot: One Week Summer Musical Theatre Camp for Youth

KidSpot Summer Camp presents an ideal opportunity for children to experience the range of activities possible at a theatre.  This summer camp is formatted into a one-week, fun-filled camp. Two sessions are available to a maximum of 50 campers ages 4 and older.  Campers will develop acting skills while participating in workshops, which may include movement, voice, theatre games, improvisations, state acting, film acting, character development, and production.  The camp is lead by theatre faculty and students.  Daily rehearsals will culminate in a stage production at the end of the week for campers to show-off their new talents.  Campers are asked to provide their own lunch and snacks.  Early drop off and late pick up is available for an additional fee.

Staying Alive

Healthcare and EMT Camp.  This camp will be hosted by San
Jacinto College's Central Campus Healthcare Occupations and EMT departments.
Campers will receive training in First Aide (First Aid card included,)
ambulance and extrication, EKG and cardiovascular, simulation and sonography,
and fire extinguishing.  This will be a hands-on, action-packed, blood-flying
week that will cover many life threatening events.  Don't become just another

The Aerospace Academy is offering several underwater robotics camps this summer. Beginner Camps offer students the opportunity to learn the basics in electronics, soldering, and robotic construction. No prior robotic experience is required.

Intermediate and Advance Camps are targeted to those students who have prior experience in electronics, soldering, and robotic construction through school programs or previous Aerospace Academy camps. In addition, all camps will offer tours at NASA-Johnson Space Center, professional speakers, and much more.

Know how to text using two thumbs?  Learn to type also using 8 fingers and one thumb!  The Keyboarding on the PC summer camp will teach you to locate the homerow keys and to type 15-20 wpm by touch with 1-3 errors.  Get ready to turn in typed assignments for middle school, high school and college. Have fun learning to type by touch from printed material, from spoken material, and from various typing games.  Enroll soon, classes fill quickly.

Brass Chamber Music Camp with Omni Brass, Central Campus

Age: 12-21

Cost: $125

Time: 2:00-6:00 pm, Tuesday - Thursday and 2:00-8:00 pm, Friday

Summer Chamber Music Camps on the Central Campus are an opportunity for young musicians ages 12-21 to improve their musical and artistic skills in a fun and challenging small group setting, while working directly with OMNI BRASS, a premier professional chamber group based in the Houston area, and SJCC music faculty.  To learn more about Omni and their summer camp programs, visit their website at http://www.omnibrass.org.  

Campers perform in a  variety of ensembles, including a large brass choir, mixed chamber groups, and like-instrument choirs, and participate in daily warm-ups, master classes, and mini-recitals.   Summer camps are a great time to prepare for UIL Solo and Ensemble!

The week will conclude with a finale concert featuring a camp Brass Choir, student ensembles, and a special performance by Omni Brass.   Family and friends are invited to attend!  

Camp fees include an Omni Brass t-shirt, all music and supplies, and a Friday evening pre-concert pizza party.

The clinic is a technique clinic to help you become a better softball player.  The clinic is designed to teach progressions, offer constructive criticism and to give you assistance in improving your techniques and training.  The clinic will bring some new and exciting drills.  We will work separate days on offense and defense. In partnership with the Kroger Foundation, San Jacinto College Aerospace Academy is offering a summer camp for students ages 14-18 years old. All who are interested in our Lost in Space camp will be required to complete our application & essay forms. The application deadline is May 28, 2014. The Aerospace Academy will select 30 students from the applicant pool and final selections will be announced on June 11, 2014 via email.  Selected students will have until 5pm CST, on Friday, June 27 to pay registration fees via Marketplace.  Up to 5 full scholarships will be awarded for this camp. The camp is specially designed to meet the needs of athletes entering into the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Know how to text using two thumbs?  Learn to type also using 8 fingers and one thumb!  The Keyboarding on the PC summer camp will teach you to locate the homerow keys and to type 15-20 wpm by touch with 1-3 errors.  Get ready to turn in typed assignments for middle school, high school and college. Have fun learning to type by touch from printed material, from spoken material, and from various typing games.  Enroll soon, classes fill quickly.

San Jacinto College South All-State Choir Camp

The San Jac South All-State choir camp is a four-day event designed to help High School students learn the audition music for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Choir. In addition to intense daily rehearsals, the camp will feature fun workshops, opportunities for group and/or private voice lessons, and "mock auditions" that simulate the audition experience for students. Contingent upon sufficient enrollment, the workshop will conclude with a final performance on Thursday evening.

Age: 9-12 graders

Cost: $125 before July 16 deadline; $150 after deadline

This two-day camp will offer middle-school age students the opportunity to learn about how historians discover and learn about history through archaeology, archives, and historical treasure hunts.  Camp will include a visit to the San Jacinto Battleground, hands-on archaeology experience, and the chance for the students to create their own unique explanation or story based on what they discover.

All-State/Region Choir Camp

Camp is designed to prepare high school choral singers for their district/region/all-state auditions.  Focus is on the repertoire to be used in the auditions, which are typically held two weeks after the camp.
