San Jacinto College complies with all federal and state laws concerning persons with disabilities, including, but not limited to, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA).
San Jacinto College will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals so that they can perform the essential functions of their job, unless doing so causes harm to the individual or others in the workplace, or if the accommodation causes undue hardship to the College.
Any employee requesting an accommodation should submit their request in writing to HRBenefits@sjcd.edu. HR Benefits will provide the documentation for the employee to have completed by their physician within 15 days. The physician will describe what accommodations(s) are needed, and the reason for the accommodation.
The interactive process for reviewing an accommodation under the ADA will include HR Benefits, the employee, and when applicable, the employee’s leader and/or the Safety department. The physician’s documentation will be reviewed during the interactive process to ensure that the accommodation request is reasonable, and does not cause undue hardship to the College.
