Mental Health and Counseling

Students: Mental Health Counselors at San Jacinto College are here to support students' mental wellbeing and assist with connecting students to resources that will support their basic needs. Counseling and support services are offered to all San Jacinto College students 18 years of age or older. All our services are confidential - no information is released to anyone without written consent, except in the case of a life-threatening emergency or when it is otherwise required by law.

For more information, visit the Mental Health Resources page.

Employees: San Jacinto College offers an employee assistance program through UTEAP.  This is a confidential work-based program that assists and supports employees who are navigating personal or work-related issues that may impact their job performance and mental well-being

Blue Light Phones

Blue Light Phones are phones you can use to alert, contact, and speak with the San Jac Police Department. They are located in the parking lots or in front of buildings on every San Jac campus. You can find one by looking for the blue light at the top of the pole and by the bright yellow pole (in parking lots) or bright yellow phone box (by buildings).

Components of the Blue Light Phone:

  • Red “Push for help” button
  • Call connection indicators
    • “Call Placed”
    • “Call Received”
  • Speakers
  • Blue light

How do I use a Blue Light Phone?

  1. Locate the Blue Light Phone on campus by looking for the blue light at the top of the pole or for the yellow box.
  2. Locate the red button.
  3. Press the button to call San Jac Police.
  4. San Jac Police will pick up and you can communicate your emergency or concern.

Drills

San Jac conducts drills to better prepare employees, students, and community members for emergencies. Drills help familiarize employees, students, and the community with what to do in the event of emergencies.

The Emergency Response Procedures give a general guide of the actions to take in the event of emergencies. You can also learn more about our drill philosophy and drill schedule.
