Alternate and Remote Work

Alternate and Remote Work

Employees interested in these programs should discuss options with their leader.

Alternate Work Schedule

An alternate work schedule is an arrangement beyond one week that permits a variation of the employee's starting and departure times, but does not alter the total number of hours worked in a week.

Employees who have established a record of high performance and demonstrated self-motivation are strong candidates for an alternate work schedule. Employees must have received a valuable rating or higher during the most recent performance management cycle, and have no documented performance or conduct issues within the six-month period preceding the request for an alternate work schedule.

Remote Work

Remote Work is a cooperative arrangement between the College and the employee. The remote work arrangement is based on the needs of the position, work group or department, and the employee’s overall performance.

The remote work arrangement can be short term (up to three months) or long term (three to five months) and allows eligible full-time employees to work remotely a maximum of two days per week.

Employees requesting a remote work arrangement must have received a valuable rating during the most recent performance management cycle, and have no documented performance or conduct issues within the six-month period preceding the request for an alternate work schedule

Work activities should be portable and should involve tasks that can effectively be performed outside the office.
