During altered operations, the Testing Centers at South, North and Central campuses are closed but will offer virtual TSI testing. If you're interested in testing, please schedule an appointment with an advisor who will help determine your testing needs. If you are a dual credit student, please schedule an appointment with their office. You will not be allowed to schedule an appointment to test until you have met with an advisor and they complete a Virtual Testing Request Form for you.

You can review the Student FAQs About College Operations for updates to specific questions about Testing and other services. You can also check here where Testing will share updates to services as available.

If you need to speak with someone in Testing, you can reach your campus Testing Center by emailing TestingCenter-South@sjcd.edu, TestingCenter-North@sjcd.edu and TestingCenter-Central@sjcd.edu.

San Jacinto College uses the Accuplacer Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment to help determine college readiness for students. The test consists of Mathematics, Reading and Writing multiple-choice sections. The test also includes a WritePlacer essay section.

The TSI Assessment is not timed and takes about 3¬Ĺ to 4 hours to finish.

You can save the TSI Assessment during any multiple choice section. You must complete the essay section once started.

Once you begin your test you will have 14 days to complete.

You should meet with your Admissions Advisor (new students), Educational Planner (continuing students) or the Dual Credit Office (dual credit students) to discuss your options and determine the best test opportunity for you. They will also give you a Testing Request Form to bring to the Testing Center.

The Testing Centers offer proctoring services for students who need to take the TSI Assessment remotely for another college. Please check TSI for Another College for more information.

You must complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA)* before you can take the TSI Assessment. The PAA covers what you can expect on the test, its importance and resources available to you to prepare. It includes audio and video elements, so please be sure you have working speakers or a headset. Click on the link below to start:

You must select San Jacinto Community College-All Campuses in Step 1 for verification.

*Please note that any materials or services offered for purchase during or upon completion of the PAA are not affiliated with San Jac and are not required to complete testing.

If you are eligible to receive accommodations but have not yet applied, please see Accessibility Services for more information.
