Public invited to workshop during Cervical Health Awareness Month

PASADENA, Texas – January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, and San Jacinto College is partnering with Legacy Community Health to provide information on how to prevent the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and cervical cancer through regular checkups.

Nearly 13,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year, according to the National Cervical Cancer Coalition (NCCC). Legacy Community Health and the College’s Community Education Center will host a free Well Woman Workshop to provide information about vaccinations and cervical cancer screenings. Refreshments and giveaways will be available. The event is scheduled from 12 to 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 31, in the Interactive Learning Center, building 1, room C-1.108, on the San Jacinto College Central Campus.

The Community Education Center is a part of the Continuing and Professional Development division at San Jacinto College.
