Marine Propulsion Plants is a 5-day USCG & STCW approved course that will familiarize deck officer students with the fundamental principles of marine power plants and auxiliary systems to enhance overall shipboard operational safety. 

Students who successfully complete Marine Propulsion Plants will satisfy the Competence of Table A-11/2 -Operate Remote Controls of Propulsion Plant and Engineering Systems and Services of the STCW, as amended 2010, for Masters and Chief Mates on ships of 500 gross tons (ITC), or more, and the Vessel Power Plants requirements of Table 2 to 46 CFR Table 11.910 for Master/Chief Mate, oceans/near coastal, unlimited tonnage; and the following specific Tasks from the Master/Chief Mate 3,000 GT or more NVIC 10-14: 10.1.A; 10.1.B; 10.1.C; l0.1.D; l0.2.A; 10.2.B; 10.2.C; l 0.2.D; 10.2.F; 10.2.G; 10.2.H; 10.2.I; 10.2.J; 10.2.K; 10.3.A; and 10.3.B.
