Master 100 Tons / Mate 200 Tons is a 10-day USCG approved course that provides students with the training necessary to obtain a U.S. Coast Guard license as Master 100 GRT/250 GT and Mate 200 GRT/500GT Near Coastal/Inland/Great Lakes. The course is a mix of lectures; and instructor supervised practical exercises to train candidates in the knowledge and skills necessary to serve as Master of a vessel of up to 100 Gross Register Tons / 250 Gross Tons and Mate 200 Gross tons Near Coastal/Inland/Great Lakes. Knowledge and skill will be assessed at the end of the course by comprehensive examinations.
Students who successfully complete Master 100 Tons / Mate 200 Tons will satisfy the examination requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(j) for original issuance, 46 CFR 10. 227(e)(1)(iii) for renewal, and 46 CFR 10.227(i) for reissuance, of a merchant mariner endorsement as Mate of Vessels of not more than 200 gross tons upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters; AND,
the examination requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(j) for original issuance, 46 CFR 10.227(e)(1)(iii) for renewal, and 46 CFR 10.227(i) for reissuance, of a merchant mariner endorsement as Master or Mate of not more than 100 gross tons Upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters; AND,
the examination requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(j) for original issuance, 46 CFR 10.227(e)(1)(iii) for renewal, and 46 CFR 10.227(i) for reissuance, of a merchant mariner endorsement as Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) Upon Near Coastal, or Great Lakes & Inland, or Inland Waters.
