Prerequisite: None
Recommended: Unlicensed Engine Department members should have a minimum of 180 days of service as a wiper or equivalent to qualify for any QMED training.

QMED-Oiler is a 15-day USCG approved course intended to satisfy the professional examination requirements of 46 CFR 12.501(c)(5) and Table 1 to 46 CFR 12.5.5(c) for a national rating endorsement as QMED-Oiler.

Any applicant who has successfully completed the QMED-Oiler (SANJCC – 387) course within 1 year of application will satisfy the professional examination requirements of 46 CFR 12.501(c)(5) and Table 1 to 46 CFR 12.5.5(c) for a national rating endorsement as QMED-Oiler and receive 30 days sea service toward a QMED-Oiler endorsement provided the application is presented with an additional 150 days qualifying sea service as required by 46 CFR 12.503(a).
