Faculty and part-time faculty wishing to be eligible to teach a distance learning course (online, online/partial, online/classroom) for San Jacinto College must have successfully completed the college approved certification program, facilitated by the Instructional Design Services department, and maintain their certification by completing related professional development each year as a component of faculty professional development for faculty performance review.
ACAdemic Learning
ACAdemic Learning, open to all interested faculty and part-time faculty, is the required professional development program for faculty and part-time faculty who would like to be eligible to teach a distance learning course at the College. This 6-week program emphasizes educational design principles and teaching methods, including effective content design and delivery, learning environment design, alternative methods of assessments, and effective integration of technology resources. By the end of the program, faculty will be able to design and develop active, collaborative, and authentic learning experiences for students and effectively use technology and online learning environments to mediate instruction for online, hybrid and on campus classes.
