Pathways Experience

You've Never Experienced Anything Like This

A ‘Pathways Experience’ to remember

By: Andrea Vasquez, San Jacinto College

pathways photo frameIn an innovative twist to its traditional biennial gala, the San Jacinto College Foundation hosted its Pathways Experience event at the San Jacinto College North Campus Center for Industrial Technology. More than 250 guests enjoyed interactive displays to explore the College’s degree and certificate pathways. From virtual welding, controlling robots built by students, and assessing one of the lifelike nursing simulation manikins, the event brought first-hand student experiences to the forefront. Other activities included a Kendra Scott Baybrook Mall prize punch wall and releasing Vision Balloons. Guests also enjoyed fine food stations throughout the venue and “Club San Jac,” complete with a Nitro Bar and musical entertainment provided by acclaimed Houston party band Doppelganger. The evening also served as a tribute to the late Dr. B.J. Westbrook who was posthumously awarded the San Jacinto College Foundation Legacy Award. A World War II U.S. Army veteran and longtime resident of the North Channel area, Westbrook led a life of service through funding scholarships, equipment purchases and establishing an endowment for San Jacinto College students. The event raised more than $200,000 for scholarships and programs.
