The Aerospace Academy at San Jacinto College invites anyone ages 14-21 to participate in this summer’s SeaAero Camp to better understand the role underwater robotics play in the aerospace industry.

This week-long camp, funded by the Texas Workforce Commission Summer Merit Grant, will involve underwater robotics and general engineering. Topics to be discussed and demonstrated will include STS-51L (Challenger) and STS-107 (Columbia), underwater robotics standards, the engineering design lifecycle, overcoming everyday challenges in robotics, SeaPerch construction and tours of Space Center Houston and the University of Houston-Clear Lake robotics lab.

By the end of the week, camp participants will have an understanding of the construction and design of robotics; the role NASA plays in the community and society; and the importance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers play in society.

Two SeaAero camp sessions will take place from Aug. 1-5 and Aug. 8-12. The camp is free for those who qualify. To register please contact Jason Fontaine, project coordinator with San Jacinto College Aerospace Academy, at or call (281) 244-6803.
