HOUSTON – Carah Nunez has been selected as a 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Softball Marucci Elite Hitter. The selections are based on the highest batting average in each district.
Nunez, a sophomore catcher from Tomball (St. Pius X HS), had a .424 batting average this season, the highest in the district, behind 73 hits, including 13 doubles, one triple, and five home runs. She had 56 RBI and scored 28 runs, with an on-base percentage of .498.
A first-team All-South Conference and first-team all-Region honoree, Nunez was selected to represent San Jacinto College on the NJCAA All-Star Team, which will play this July in the 21st Annual Canadian Open Fastpitch International Competition.
San Jac finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 34-25, ranked seventh in the region.
