PASADENA, Texas – Hundreds of guests are expected to attend the San Jacinto College Foundation “Sailing to Success” gala, set for Friday, May 20, 2016, at the Sylvan Beach Pavilion in La Porte, Texas.
This year’s gala, co-chaired by Rear Admiral William and Nancy Pickavance, USN (Ret.) and John and Tookie McMahan, will raise money to complete the endowment for the Promise for Their Future scholarship fund. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees Vice Chairman, Mr. Larry Wilson, will emcee the event, which will feature live music from the Eclipse Band & Orchestra, as well as a live auction and raffle.
The gala will honor Mr. Neil and Eloise West, longtime supporters of San Jacinto College, with the Legacy Award.
“Since opening our doors in 1996, the San Jacinto College Foundation has helped thousands of students to succeed not only in academia, but in life,” said Ruth Keenan, San Jacinto College Foundation executive director. “By attending or sponsoring this year’s gala, you are directly impacting the lives of our students by helping them to achieve the dream of a college education.”
Table sponsorships, which include gala tickets and other recognition, are available at a variety of levels, from $1,000 to $100,000. Individual gala tickets can also be purchased for $250.

Judith Gonzales, scholarship recipient, said about receiving a San Jacinto College Foundation scholarship, “I am sincerely honored to have been selected as a scholarship recipient. I am a single mother working full-time and attending college has been a financial challenge. This scholarship will help me focus more on my education by alleviating some of the financial burdens I encounter.”
